"Bringing Fernando Santos to the post of head coach of our national team was a mistake, and if, as they say, full compensation was paid, then sending him away is the second mistake." These words were said by manager Tural Asgarov in an interview with Sport24.az.
The famous agent spoke about Fernando Santos's resignation from the post of head coach of the national team:
"I hope that after our national team's heavy defeat to Iceland, Aykhan Abbasov will be able to prepare the team psychologically for the game against Ukraine. But in any case, the match with Ukraine is just one game, I don't think that the result is of great importance for the future of our football. The new head coach of our national team must be a local specialist. Because it's time to end the love for "blind foreigners". As an answer to all questions, I would like to state that the national team is the top of the pyramid. Any change at the top will be a small, cosmetic repair. The foundation is still in a terrible, rotten state."
It should be noted that Fernando Santos was appointed head coach of the Azerbaijani national team in June last year. AFFA terminated the contract with the Portuguese specialist by mutual agreement yesterday.
