Chelsea Football Club defender Trevo Chalobah has stated ahead of the Champions League match against "Qarabag" of Aghdam in Baku that he intends to help his team win and make a name for himself in the capital of Azerbaijan.
Idman.Biz reports that Trevo Chalobah said in a statement on the club's website that he considers the upcoming game an important mission:
"Now our next task is the match in Baku. I want to leave my mark and help my team win against "Qarabag". The opponent has already won two victories like us."
Chalobah expressed his respect for the opponent and noted that "Qarabag"'s participation in the Champions League shows that the club has done a great job and is of a high level.
He emphasized that "Chelsea" must play at its best to remain among the strongest clubs in Europe and perform at this level next season as well.
"We understand that a difficult game awaits us. We have to show our best football to stay where we deserve to be," the defender added.
According to him, the 1:3 defeat to "Bayern" in the first round does not reflect the real level of the London club.
According to Chalobah, the team showed the football they wanted and played at the same level as one of the strongest clubs in Europe in certain episodes. He noted that every game in the Champions League requires maximum attention and concentration.
"We fought all last season to return to the Champions League. Now we must value this opportunity with both hands, enjoy the process and try to move forward as much as possible," Chalobah emphasized.
The defender added that stability is important for him: when the head coach gives him a place in the squad, he always tries to be ready and useful. He recalled that he played both in the Premier League and in the current Champions League season.
The match between "Qarabag" and "Chelsea" will be held on Wednesday at the Tofig Bahramov Republican Stadium and will start at 21:45 Baku time.
