Musiala's injury at the Club World Cup could have led to a continuation of cooperation between Bayern and its veteran Thomas Müller, but it did not happen.
Lent.az, citing foreign media, reports that the club has officially announced the departure of the legend.
What did Bayern publish?
The Munich club has officially said goodbye to its long-term leader. The 35-year-old German footballer is leaving the team as a free agent after his contract expires.
"A career unlike any other. We bow before you, Thomas!" - the official statement reads.
Müller's last game in a Bayern shirt was in the 1/4 finals of the Club World Cup against PSG, which the team lost 0:2. In April, the footballer extended his contract until mid-July in order to be able to participate in this tournament.
Müller is a Bayern academy graduate and has been with the club since 2000. He made his debut in the main team in 2009 and has since played 756 games, scored 250 goals and provided 246 assists. He is a two-time Champions League winner (2013, 2020), a 13-time German champion and a six-time German Cup winner.
Even before that, immediately after the defeat to PSG, Müller himself confirmed that his time at Bayern was over.
"Of course, I understand that this was my last game. But I'm not in the mood to share deep thoughts about my future career," he said.
Options for continuing
Currently, Thomas Müller's future remains uncertain. The press writes that several MLS clubs are interested in the player. Inter Miami is the most interested. The American club wants to see the star German in the same team as Lionel Messi.
The footballer is expected to take a break to consider his options, but a move to the USA is considered a priority.
