Experienced Porto defender Thiago Silva has opened a new chapter in his career. The 41-year-old footballer made his debut in the tournament by appearing in the match against Stuttgart (2:1) as part of the Europa League group stage.
Idman.Biz reports that this match was the first test in the continent's second-tier club tournament for the Brazilian star. Silva has only competed in the Champions League during his rich career so far. He has previously participated in the continent's most prestigious tournament as part of Milan, PSG and Chelsea.
This debut also went down in the history of the tournament as a record. Silva, who took the field at the age of 41 years and 171 days, became the oldest outfield player to debut in the history of the Europa League.
