The popular resource Score 90 has collected the world's most expensive transfers in the last twenty-five years.
According to Lent.az, they are divided into several periods to emphasize how much player purchases have risen in price on average, and that transfers of 100 million euros are now commonplace.
The first period was the decade when Florentino Perez tried to build the "Royal Club" in Madrid.
The second brought a little variety - more clubs and leagues, the average price increased and began to approach the psychological barrier of 100 million, exceeding it several times.
In the third period, all five of the most expensive transfers already exceeded one hundred million. At that time, PSG bought Neymar from Barcelona for a record price of 222 million euros, and a year later transferred Kilian Mbappe from Monaco for 180 million. Coutinho, Dembele and Felix did not live up to the money paid.
The fourth period is distinguished by the fact that, in addition to four attacking players, there is also a defensive midfielder - Moyses Kaycedo. Until then, a lot of money was usually paid only for attackers and those who posed a threat to the opponent's goal, and not for those who prevented them from doing so.
This season has become a separate period. All the expensive top transfers of the summer were in the Premier League. At the same time, so far only one transfer has cost more than 100 million euros – Liverpool paid Bayer 125 million for Florian Wirtz.
