"Girona" goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen addressed the fans after suffering a thigh muscle injury.
Idman.Biz reports that it was previously written in the press that the German goalkeeper's recovery could take up to two months.
"Most of you don't know me personally, so I want to share something with you.
I am a positive person. I have always been this way and have always remained true to it, despite all the difficulties, but this is especially difficult for me.
The worst thing happened last weekend: I got injured during the match. I just arrived in Girona and was greeted warmly and hospitably from the first minute. I was looking forward to being part of the team and helping to achieve our common goal.
Now my role has changed completely, but my support for the team will remain unwavering. This is not just a group of excellent players and coaching staff; it's like a family, and I've felt their support and closeness from the start.
For athletes, the greatest joy comes from competitions - from training and performance. I will have to postpone all this for several months because I decided to have surgery.
I will be back," Ter Stegen wrote on his social media page.
Ter Stegen moved to Girona on loan from Barcelona on January 21 and played in two matches - against Getafe (1:1) and Oviedo (0:1).
