Idman.Biz reports that "Sumgayit" Football Club has released an official statement regarding the court dispute between the club's president Riad Rafiyev and journalists Anar Shabanoglu and Ikhtiyar Asgarov.
The club stated that the president appealed to the court and filed a civil lawsuit demanding refutation, apology, and compensation due to biased, unfounded, and untrue information spread about Riad Rafiyev for a long time.
According to the decision issued by the Narimanov District Court, the untrue information spread by Anar Shabanoglu ("Sports.Az") and Ikhtiyar Asgarov ("Matc.az") must be refuted and published on the "Sports.Az", "Matc.az" websites and their personal "Facebook" accounts, and that information must be deleted from all platforms. In addition, "Sports.az" LLC and Anar Shabanoglu must pay 1000 manats, and Ikhtiyar Asgarov must pay 1000 manats, for a total of 2000 manats in moral damages compensation.
The club also noted that Riad Rafiyev wants this amount to be donated to the YASHAT Foundation by the defendants, not to him personally.
