In Salto, a city of 115,000 people located on the border of Uruguay with Argentina, two streets have been named after Luis Suárez and Edison Cavani.

According to El Pais, not only Suárez and Cavani, but also other legends of local sports - footballer Pedro Virgilio Rocha, basketball players Omar "Chumbo" Arrestia and Nicolas Mazzarino, jockey Irineo Leguisamo, and football coach Anibal "Mano" Ruiz - have had streets named after them.
During the event, a new square called "Land of Champions" was also opened with the participation of Uruguay's Olympic flag bearer, former athlete Monica Falcioni. At the same time, a proposal was made to name the Salto International Airport after Edison Cavani.
