Former Croatian national team footballer Stepan Tomas has commented on the appointment of Saša Ilić, his former teammate at Turkish "Galatasaray", as head coach of "Sumgayit".
Idman.biz reports that the 49-year-old specialist, in an exclusive statement to AZERTAC, wished the Serbian specialist success in his new job: "I have always liked Saša Ilić. There is no question about his football career. But I have no information about his coaching. I haven't contacted him for a long time. I want my former teammate to be successful in Azerbaijan."
It should be noted that Saša Ilić has signed a one-year contract with "Sumgayit". He and Stepan Tomas played together in the Turkish giant in 2005-2007. Stepan Tomas, who played 49 games for the Croatian national team, also wore the jersey of "Fenerbahce".
