Leicester attacker Stefi Mavididi has changed his mind and now wants to play for the Congo national team. Sport24.az reports that this was reported by Foot Africa. The 27-year-old Englishman had previously rejected an invitation to the African team.
According to Mavididi's family, the striker is waiting for a call from the national team coach to join the team. He previously played for England's youth teams in various age groups, making 18 appearances and scoring 6 goals.
It should be noted that Congo defeated Cameroon (1-0) and Nigeria (1-1, 4-3 on penalties) in the African zone play-offs of the WC-2026 qualifying round. The team is already preparing for the intercontinental play-off stage, which will be held in March next year.
