Igor Ponomaryov, the sporting director of "Sabah", assessed the team's chances in the matches against "Cele" (Slovenia) in the first qualifying round of the UEFA Europa League.
He gave a statement to "Report" about this.
The club official stated that they will start preparations in the coming days:
"We will provide information about both the appointment of the head coach and the training camp in the near future."
He said new transfers are expected:
"Our scouts have done a good job. I believe that the new transfers will strengthen the team."
I. Ponomaryov also spoke about potential rivals in the UEFA Europa League:
"Both "Cele" and "Partizan" or AEK, who will play with the winner of this pair, are strong enough. In general, the clubs participating in the European arena were among the best in their countries last season. We faced "Partizan" 2 years ago and lost in the penalty shootout. We are currently only thinking about the matches with the Slovenian team. I rate the chances as equal."
It should be noted that "Sabah" will play its first match in the first qualifying round of the UEFA Europa League at home on July 10, and the return match will be played away on July 17. If the team loses, they will face the winner of the "Birkirkara" (Malta) - "Petrocub" (Moldova) pair in the second qualifying round of the UEFA Conference League. The matches will take place on July 24 and 31.
