"Sporting" president Frederico Varandas has announced that striker Viktor Gyökeres did not return to the club's camp after the break.
Idman.biz reports that the Swedish striker has repeatedly stated his desire to leave the team.
The 27-year-old forward asked the Lisbon club to facilitate his transfer to Arsenal. Varandas clarified what happened as follows: "We are calm. Everything can be resolved after the transfer window closes with a large fine and an apology to the team. If Arsenal does not want to pay a fair market value for Viktor, this will be a suitable option for us for the next three years. If the geniuses who developed this strategy think they will put pressure on me to facilitate his departure, they are not only completely wrong, but they are also making the player's transfer difficult. No one is above the interests of the club."
It should be noted that Gyökeres scored 54 goals and made 13 assists in 52 games in all tournaments last season. He has a contract with Sporting until the summer of 2028. Lisbon are not going to sell him for less than 75 million euros.
