Siyasat Asgarov, the head coach of the Azerbaijan women's national football team, shared his thoughts after the 2-0 victory over the Malaysian team in the "FIFA Tri Nations Women's Football Series 2025" tournament.
Idman.Biz reports that Asgarov emphasized that the opponent prepared for the match with high motivation.
"The Malaysian national team had won against the Bangladesh team. If they had defeated us as well, they would have been the winners of the tournament. For this reason, they prepared for the match with high motivation. We had also analyzed several previous matches of the opponent. We knew their strengths and weaknesses, and their game plans were the same," said the head coach.
The head coach said that the match took place in two different parts:
"We scored beautiful goals in the first half. We worked on both goals during training. We could have scored again before the break. We also had 100% goal opportunities in the second half. We gave young players a chance to show themselves."
Asgarov also noted the main shortcoming that the team needs to work on:
"I think our main shortcoming was our inability to take advantage of goal opportunities. This moment may cause us difficulties in the qualifying round games. We will try to prepare better for the match against the Bangladesh team."
It should be noted that our national team will play its last game in the tournament against the Bangladesh team on December 2.
