Qarabağ goalkeeper Shahrudin Mahammadaliyev shared his thoughts on the victory (3:2) over Benfica (Portugal) in the first round of the UEFA Champions League League stage. Sport24.az reports that the 31-year-old football player said in an interview with the Russian website championat.com:
"After the match, the club management came to the locker room and congratulated us. But we didn't celebrate the victory very much. We quickly got ready and went to the airport so we wouldn't miss the flight. If the airport had been closed, we would have had to spend the night there. But we always try to fly immediately after games. Anyway, no one is sleeping yet, so it's better to fly. We arrived in Baku in six hours. Many people met us at the airport - journalists, fans. Thank you very much to them."
He said that this is a great historical victory for the Azerbaijani people: "We win so that people can rejoice. We are in the Champions League for the second time in history. The first time we only scored two goals throughout the tournament, and now we have scored three goals in one game and won away. The main thing is not to stop there and continue our success. It is too early to think about leaving the group. We try to move forward from game to game. Now we need to focus on the national championship. It is very difficult, but necessary."
