Qarabagh goalkeeper Shahruddin Mahammadaliyev spoke about the emotions of the team's players after losing 6-0 to Liverpool in the 8th round of the Champions League.
Idman.Biz reports that despite the defeat, Qarabagh qualified for the Champions League play-off stage for the first time in its history.
"We weren't so happy that we reached the play-offs after the game with Liverpool; we didn't want to lose by such a big score. We expected to fight a world-class strong team. We were disappointed, but that's how it turned out.
We were happier after the previous game with Eintracht because we knew we were 99% through to the play-offs. We still couldn't be completely relaxed, but we were happier than in Liverpool," Mahammadaliyev told Championat correspondent Vladimir Chetverik.
Qarabagh finished the Champions League main stage in 22nd place in the tournament table. During the tournament, the Azerbaijani club defeated Benfica (3:2) and Eintracht Frankfurt (3:2). In the play-off stage, the team may face either Paris Saint-Germain (France) or Newcastle United (England).
