The goal of the Azerbaijan national team U-21, consisting of football players under 21 years old, in the qualifying round of the European Championship against Bulgaria was to win.
U-21 member Shahin Shahniyarov told "Report" about this.
The 20-year-old midfielder shared his thoughts on the match they drew (1:1):
"It was an interesting game. We analyzed the opponent from the beginning. We knew their strengths and weaknesses. We were also well prepared. Our goal in this match was to win. But unfortunately, it didn't work out. We will focus on the upcoming matches."
The player, who joined the U-21 camp from the main national team, said that his teammates had forgotten about the defeat in the first match:
"I was not in the match with Portugal (0:5). I joined the team one day before the meeting with Bulgaria. I only had one training session. At that time, it was already felt that my teammates had forgotten the defeat and were well tuned for this match."
