An experienced specialist expressed his attitude to the processes taking place in the country's football during the year that is coming to an end:
"Our national team finished last in the qualifying round with 1 point. U-21 experienced the same failure. Unfortunately, there were many big defeats. Our only bright spot is "Qarabağ". This year, the Aghdam club sensationally reached the main stage of the Champions League, and then managed to score 7 points there. This is a great success for Azerbaijani football. What are my expectations for 2026? We expect the opposite of this result from our main national team. We are left to wait with hope, as we do every year. I think that 2026 may be more successful than 2025," he said in his statement to sport24.az.
