Shahdag Gusar director says: "We intend to fight for high places in the First League as well"

"Shahdag Gusar", which qualified for the Azerbaijan First League in football, will also fight for high places in this championship.

The director of the regional representative Elchin Cananov said this in an interview with "Report".

He shared his thoughts on becoming the champion in the Second League:

"We set ourselves the goal of qualifying for the First League last season as well. We couldn't do it that time, we took third place. This time, we prepared more seriously for the season. The sponsors set us the goal of qualifying for the First League, not becoming the champion. As a team, we also wanted to become champions. Our fans also demanded it. We deserved the championship. We started the season well. We had tough and difficult matches. But in the end, we won the title. We were able to make all our fans happy."

The club official also spoke about the goals for the 2025/2026 season:

"We have submitted our next plans and documents to our sponsor. We are waiting for a response from them. Probably, the answer will come in the near future, and a budget will be allocated. Finance is needed to achieve any goals in the First League. Based on their response, we will determine our plans, and we will be able to start preparing for the new season after a 10-15 day break. I believe that we will also fight for the highest places in the First League. In my opinion, the team can take the first "3". This is possible. We don't know the claims and goals of the clubs in the First League. But we will play for high places."

It should be noted that "Shahdag Gusar" became the champion in the Second League with 72 points.
