"Shafa" club, which plays in the Azerbaijan I League, will build a new stadium for itself.
Idman.biz reports that the club's president, Sardar Salmanzadeh, announced this in an interview with Sportnet.az.
According to Salmanzadeh, they were offered 5 areas in the central part of Baku and its settlements for the construction of the stadium. He said that they will finalize their selections in the coming days and start the construction of the stadium: "Of course, it depends on the price, there is also a price difference. We also take into account the completion time of the stadium. We have an idea of what we want and the area we need. We just need some time to concretize our thoughts by considering certain risks. Yes, it is very difficult to buy land within the city. We currently have 5 areas in front of us. But I don't want to reveal their locations. We will inform you as soon as we sign a contract with someone. 5 areas have been offered, we are making a selection."
According to the club president, there is no problem in finding land for the stadium: "As a person involved in the work, I can say that it is possible to find it, it exists."
He also talked about the stadium project: "A standard-sized (105 X 68) field, a tribune with a capacity of approximately 5,000 spectators and skyboxes will also be built. The stadium will meet all the requirements of the Professional Football League. There will be rooms for players, an emergency medical station, and parking for 50-60 cars. In addition, a dormitory will be built for football players from the region. A separate indoor mini-stadium is also planned for the academy so that they can train there when the weather does not allow it. The construction will be awarded to the company through a tender. Laying the grass cover may take approximately 2 months, and other construction work may take at least 6-7 months."
Salmanzadeh also revealed that the field covering will be artificial: "We plan to build several fields. The covering of the first field will be artificial. However, a high-quality covering will be laid. The quality I have seen around Baku is not at the desired level. It will be completely different here. Negotiations are already underway, and we are getting into certain details. We will build the field using European experience. Both the academy and the main team will be able to play there. After becoming a little more professional, we will also review the surrounding areas and give preference to natural covering."
