Sergey Rebrov: "Azerbaijan national team played well in counter-attacks, the problem was with us"

The Azerbaijan national team played its second match in the qualifying round of the DÇ-2026 today. Our national team, which is in Group D, drew 1:1 with Ukraine. Sport24.az reports that after the game, at the press conference, the head coach of the Ukrainian national team, Sergey Rebrov, answered journalists' questions:

- Why do you think you lost points?

- I told you that we cannot underestimate any team. The field was not ready today either. We attacked in the penalty area in the last 10 minutes. We couldn't score the episodes. We were the ones dictating the game.

- What surprised you about the Azerbaijan national team?

- The problem was not with the Azerbaijan national team, it was with us. The Azerbaijan national team played well in counter-attacks. It is very difficult to play on such a field.

- This is not the first game that the national team has problems...

- I apologize to the Ukrainian fans. If we had won 1:0, it would have been a negative game in any case. We have injured players. Ukraine is at war. We must support each other. No one should say negative words.

- Ukrainian clubs will not participate in the Champions League. But "Qarabağ" participates in the Champions League...

- I wouldn't say that the Ukrainian national team plays worse than Azerbaijan. The Azerbaijan national team has "Qarabağ" playing in the Champions League. The problem is that we played very badly in attack.

- There were Ukrainian flags in the stadium. What would you say about this atmosphere?
