The Ukrainian national team started the qualifying round for the 2026 World Cup with a 0:2 defeat to France.
According to Idman.biz, the team's head coach, Sergey Rebrov, noted the high level of the opponent and emphasized that now all efforts should be directed to the next game - the match against the Azerbaijani national team.
"It was a difficult game. We understood that we were playing against one of the best football countries. France has very high-level players, they control the ball, change the pace quickly. Our defenders had a difficult time. But now the most important thing is the next game. We lost points, but today we need to prepare for the game with Azerbaijan," said Rebrov.
This meeting will play a key role in the fight for important points at the start of the qualifying round for the Ukrainian national team. The Azerbaijan - Ukraine match will be held in Baku on September 9.
