The Senegal Football Federation (FSF) has called CAF's decision to strip the team of its Africa Nations League title unacceptable and said they will not accept it. Sport24.az reports that the statement reads:
"The Senegal Football Federation condemns this decision, calling it unfair, unprecedented and unacceptable. It is a disrespect to all African football.
The Federation will immediately initiate an appeal procedure to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in Lausanne to protect its rights and the interests of Senegalese football.
The FSF reaffirms its unwavering commitment to the values of integrity and sporting justice and will keep the public informed of future steps in this matter."
It should be noted that the Africa Nations Cup final between Senegal and Morocco was held on January 18, 2026 at the stadium in Rabat. At the end of regular time, the Senegalese left the field in protest of the penalty awarded to them. After a break of about 15 minutes, they returned and Eduard Mendy saved Brahim Diaz's penalty. In extra time, Pape Guye secured the victory for the Senegalese.
