French specialist Herve Renard has left his post as head coach of the Saudi Arabian national team. Sport24.az reports that the local federation's press service has released information about this.
He will be replaced by Giorgos Donis, the head coach of "Al-Khaleej". The Greek coach has already reached an agreement with the Saudi Arabian Football Federation. The appointment will be officially announced after the contract is signed.
Under Renard's leadership, the Saudi Arabian team lost their last two friendly matches - to Egypt (0-4) and Serbia (1-2). The French specialist stated in a previous press statement that it would be difficult to achieve positive results in the World Cup in the current circumstances.
It should be noted that Renard was "at the helm" of the national team since October 2024. The Saudi team is in Group H with Spain, Cabo Verde and Uruguay in the WC-2026.
