Former Real Madrid and Barcelona player and president of the Cameroonian Football Federation, Samuel Eto'O, has responded to rumors about his political ambitions.
Idman.Biz reports that Samuel Eto'O believes these rumors stem from his popularity.
"Becoming the president of Cameroon? This question is the cause of 99% of my problems today. Because people see that I have become even more popular after my time as a footballer and they say to themselves: 'He absolutely wants to become head of state'. This also creates a problem for those who are even hiding in the shadows, waiting for the opportunity to become head of state," - RMC Sport quoted Eto'O as saying.
Eto'O was re-elected president of the federation in November and has held the position since 2021. The 44-year-old former footballer is Cameroon's all-time top scorer.
