"The team fights until the end."
This was stated to Idman.biz by Samir Aliyev, the former head coach of the Azerbaijan national team consisting of football players under 21 years old.
He evaluated the team's performance in the recent friendly matches. The experienced specialist said that the national team is able to show itself in a good light under the leadership of his successor Aykhan Abbasov: "I am asked a lot of questions about U-21. I can only say that the team has a new head coach like Aykhan Abbasov. He is a specialist who has made his mark in Premier League clubs with his work. Aykhan has enough experience and is forming a new team."
According to Aliyev, there have been serious changes in the main squad of his former team: "The national team has had two training camps and played four games. It is obvious that they are very eager. They fought well until the end in the match with Montenegro. They also created several goal episodes. Unfortunately, they could not score. Overall, the team makes a good impression. I wish the team success in the upcoming qualifying round."
It should be noted that U-21 held its first test match within the last training camp against the Belarus national team (1:3) away. Two days ago, the Azerbaijan-Montenegro match held in Sumgayit ended in a goalless draw.
