The 47-year-old specialist stated that he did not want to talk about "Neftchi":

But no one talks about the person who saved a team from relegation and took them to European cups the following year. They cover up those who want to talk, they don't let them talk. My heart aches. Azerbaijan doesn't need a coach, a specialist, or someone who works. You need a person, and someone who praises you, who talks," he said in his statement to "teleqraf".

The capital club's management finalized its opinion on the 47-year-old specialist after the 2:3 defeat at home to "Imishli" in the XII round of the Azerbaijan Premier League yesterday, and the contract was terminated.
It should be noted that Samir Abasov was the head coach of "Neftchi" since October 2024. He previously coached the "white-blacks" in 2020-2022 as well.
