"Neftchi" head coach Samir Abasov participated in the press conference held after the match against "Sabail" in the 35th round of the Misli Premier League. Sport24.az reports that he answered questions from journalists.
- You played well in both home games against "Sabail". What was the reason for playing so well in other matches?
- We had just arrived at that time, the mood of the players was different. Now there was also a lot of comfort. A lot was achieved against this background. There were matches in which we played even better. If we look at the last matches, I remember the game with "Turan Tovuz". What was missing? It was the same things that were missing that kept us far from what we wanted. These things force us to think. We are working on these shortcomings. We have to be a different team in the new season. The issue of shortcomings... We need to remember all the games. I think it's too late now.
- Don't you think that you sacrificed the championship to play in the cup final?
- We did not divide the cup and the championship. We understand which club we are in, every game has a responsibility. We didn't just hold the cup in our hands and go to the championship with other motivation. By God, no. There was just bad luck. In the end, our chance was in the cup. We prepared for it differently. The players also saw it as a way out. We started well in the meeting with "Sabah", if we had scored the episodes, we would have played in the final. We did not discriminate between the cup and the championship, and we will not do so in the future.
