The Saint Lucia national football team did not expect a heavy defeat in the match against the Azerbaijani team.

The specialist shared his thoughts after the match they lost to the Azerbaijani team (1:6) in the "FIFA Series – 2026" international tournament.
"I did not expect such a result. We knew the opponent would put pressure on us. We made simple mistakes. When that happens, you are definitely punished.
We knew that the opponent would surpass us physically and tactically. The Azerbaijani national team is a very well-organized team. I informed my players about this. I told them that they are a European representative and have played games against strong opponents.
We have come a long way to get here. It was an experience for the players. They played against a European team. But playing only one game disappoints us," said John.
