"After the Azerbaijani national team's devastating defeat to Iceland (0:5) in the opening match of the qualifying round, many believe that Ukraine will win easily." Sport24.az reports that these words were said by Ukrainian expert Jozef Sabo.
The former coach of the Ukrainian national team shared his thoughts on the D-2026 qualifying match that the team will play today:
"But I have a slightly bad feeling about the upcoming game. It certainly won't be easy. There has been a change of head coach in Azerbaijan. Maybe the players simply "melted" the previous specialist. If so, then after the departure of Fernando Santos, the atmosphere in the team may change for the better. In addition, Azerbaijan is playing on its own field, and the support of the fans can always inspire a courageous game."
The 85-year-old former head coach also announced his prediction for the match:
"I'm worried about this game. Any result is possible. I don't rule out a draw. But I hope that the guys will not lose heart and will win at least with a score of 2:1."
It should be noted that the Azerbaijan-Ukraine match, which will be played today, will start at 20:00.
