The "Sabail" club intends to compete in the Azerbaijan First League with 2 or 3 foreign players.
The head coach of the capital's representative, Elvin Mammadov, told "Report" about this.
The specialist said that they want to give more chances to local players:
"We have already started preparations for the new season for 10 days. Everything is in order. Our staff is slowly being completed. We are waiting for 2-3 football players. After they arrive, we will be fully ready for the new season. Those football players will be front line players. There are also players we are negotiating with from the locals. But I can't reveal their names because it's not official. We intend to play with a maximum of 2 or 3 foreign players next season."
E. Mammadov said that they will hold home games in the championship at "ASCO Arena":
"We will play our matches at "ASCO Arena". We are currently continuing our training here. What is written in the press does not reflect the truth so much. Everything is fine."
The head coach also touched upon the abolition of lower age groups after the team left the Premier League:
"I used to work in the U-19 team of this club. We have recruited 3 people from there to the team. We would like all those children to stay. They were our future. But it didn't happen. Each of them will play in new clubs, there are also teams they have agreed with. I hope that we will return to the Premier League again and attract those young people to the team."
It should be noted that according to the regulations of the First League, teams are allowed to use the services of a maximum of three foreign players in matches. Clubs can attract 7 foreign players to their squad during the season. The new season in the First League will start on September 11.
