The coaching staff of "Sabah", who lost to the Slovenian representative "Celje" (2:3) in the first match of the first qualifying round of the UEFA Europa League, needs time to implement their ideas. Igor Ponomaryov, the sports director of the Baku club, said this in his statement to "Report", Sport24.az reports.
The club official said that the chances are not lost: "First of all, I want to thank the fans. Yesterday there was a truly great atmosphere in the stadium. In my opinion, the fans who came to the stadium were able to enjoy football. The only negative thing was our defeat. We must take into account that our head coach Valdas Dambrauskas is still new, and he and the coaching staff need some time to implement their ideas. Most likely, after this game, the coaching staff clarified some issues related to the opponent. Our chance continues. The team must prove in the trip to Slovenia that they are better than their opponent and more worthy of qualifying for the next stage."
It should be noted that the return match between "Sabah" and "Cele" will be held on July 17 in Slovenia.
