Rufat Abdullazade, who was not included in the list announced by Fernando Santos for the matches of the Azerbaijani national team in the qualifying round for the 2026 World Cup against Iceland and Ukraine, expressed his opinion on the matter.
İdman.biz reports that the Azerbaijani football player, who plays for the Croatian club "Varazdin", gave an interview to Sportal.az regarding his non-invitation to the national team.
Abdullazade emphasized that not being invited to the national team is a bit upsetting: "But I am constantly working to improve myself. My job is to do my best in training and on the field. Other decisions are made by the coaching staff."
It should be noted that Rufat Abdullazade moved to "Varazdin" in the summer. His contract with the club is valid until June 30, 2028.
