"We were expecting a difficult game". Sport24.az reports that these words were said by the Azerbaijani national team footballer Rufat Abbasov in his statement to journalists.
The flank defender shared his thoughts on the D-2026 qualifying match they lost 0:2 to Iceland:
"The opponent is really a good team. I made my debut in the main team. The result was not encouraging. We wanted to win a point or points. But we had good episodes. I say thank you to the team very much."
Abbasov added that they could not take advantage of the opportunities they had:
"We couldn't put the final point. We need to work on it. We will try to do better."
Finally, he also touched upon the match they will play against France on November 16:
"France's strength is known to everyone. But despite this, we will fight to the end. We will try to do our best on the field."
