Ruben Martinez, the goalkeeping coach of the Spanish U-21 national team, has made remarkable comments about the future of Barcelona's young goalkeeper, Xoan Garcia.
Idman.Biz reports that the expert, in his statement to "Diario Sport", said that he believes Garcia will sooner or later become the main goalkeeper of the Spanish national team.
"Sooner or later, Xoan Garcia will become the main goalkeeper of the Spanish national team. If he maintains this pace of development, he may become one of the best goalkeepers in Barcelona's history in a few years. He is still very young, and goalkeepers have many years ahead of them. He can make history in Spanish football," the expert emphasized.
Martinez noted that the goalkeeper's playing style is perfectly suited to Barcelona:
"This is a goalkeeper who fits Barcelona's game philosophy. He has incredibly improved his footwork. When he played for Espanyol, he had less work, and there were doubts about building attacks here. But he proved that he is a versatile goalkeeper who plays very well with his feet."
Martinez also drew attention to his psychological qualities:
"The calmness and confidence he shows in every episode is remarkable. This is especially evident in difficult games. In the match against Racing, for example, he saved the only shot that was not offside."
