Milan midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek may not return to the field this season after suffering a jaw injury in the Serie A Round 26 match against Parma.
Idman.Biz reports that the incident occurred in the eighth minute of the game, which ended in Parma's favor with a score of 1:0.
Loftus-Cheek collided with goalkeeper Edoardo Corvi while deflecting Alexis Saelemaekers' pass. After the impact, the English player fell to the ground and left the field on a stretcher with his neck braced.
According to Sky Sport Italia, the initial examination revealed at least two broken upper teeth, as well as two cuts, one of which was on his forehead. However, Loftus-Cheek did not lose consciousness and did not suffer a concussion.
Loftus-Cheek is expected to undergo maxillofacial surgery soon. Depending on the nature of the injury, screws or plates may be used to stabilize his teeth. He will most likely be fed through a feeding tube in the near future.
Loftus-Cheek's recovery time remains uncertain, as his injury is not typical for footballers. The Milan midfielder is expected to miss the remainder of the season.
