Former Manchester United and England forward Wayne Rooney has stated that there is no world-class star in the current Arsenal squad.
Idman.Biz reports that Arsenal currently lead the Premier League table.
"I agree that Arsenal don’t have that real superstar, that world-class player who can be blamed for everything. But, as we’ve seen in the last couple of years, they know how to win. They’ve shown that you don’t need a superstar. I think what is happening is that Arsenal fans, ex-players are coming out against them and it’s killing them.
They need to shut up and let everyone else do the talking. Mikel Arteta is doing a brilliant job - the way he talks, the way he deals with the media, the way he tries to calm the players down. The influence of other people around the club is too much.
In terms of quality, Arsenal have a lot of high-level players. Do they have that superstar who can change the game? I don’t think they do, but they know how to win games and they’ve shown that in the last three years.
Of course, Arsenal can win the league, but there’s still a third of the season to go, so anything can happen. I think they will win it thanks to Arteta - he’s been fantastic this season. In previous seasons, when the pressure came on, he was showing it and it was affecting the players, but I think this year he’s dealt with that situation perfectly," - Goal quotes Rooney.
