Ireland national team head coach Heimir Hallgrímsson has revealed what he said to Portugal national team striker and captain Cristiano Ronaldo after he received a red card.
Idman.Biz reports that the Ireland - Portugal match within the framework of the 2026 World Cup qualifying round ended with a score of 2:0 in favor of the home team. In the 59th minute of the game, Cristiano Ronaldo received a red card and was sent off the field.
"He praised me for putting pressure on the referee. The reason for the red card was his (Ronaldo's) actions on the field. I didn't get into his head, so I have nothing to do with it," The Sun newspaper quoted Hallgrímsson as saying.
Ronaldo got into an argument with the Irish coach on the sidelines after the red card.
