Cristiano Ronaldo, the forward for "Al-Nassr" and the Portuguese national team, has become the first footballer in the world to surpass $1 billion in wealth. Sport24.az reports, citing the "Business Tima" magazine, that this became possible thanks to the contract the Portuguese forward signed with "Al-Nassr" in June last year.
According to the source, the star footballer's two-year contract is worth 400 million euros, and Ronaldo's wealth is estimated at $1.4 billion.
It is noted that Cristiano has earned more than $550 million from 2002 to 2023. He earns approximately $18 million per year from his contract with Nike, and a large portion of his wealth comes from contracts with Castrol and Armani.
Ronaldo is the current captain of the national team, the 2016 European champion, and a two-time winner of the Nations League. He also holds the record for the most appearances and goals for the Portuguese national team.
The 40-year-old footballer has won the Champions League five times at club level and the Ballon d'Or five times.
