Manchester City midfielder Rodri has been fined £80,000 (€92,000) for his comments about refereeing following a 2-2 draw with Tottenham Hotspur in the 24th round of the English Premier League.
Idman.Biz reports that the Football Association announced that the player admitted his guilt at an independent regulatory commission hearing.
After the match, Rodri stated: "We created a lot and people don’t want us to win, but the referee has to be neutral. And honestly, for me, it's unfair."
These comments led to disciplinary action because they questioned the integrity of the referee.
The Football Association said that Rodri "acted improperly in that he made comments which were improper, brought the game into disrepute and/or questioned the integrity of the match official(s) and/or implied bias".
In addition to the fine, the midfielder has been warned about his future conduct.
