The organizer of the event held at the "Salt Lake" stadium in Kolkata with the participation of the Argentine national team's striker and captain Lionel Messi has been detained after the footballer's fans rioted in the arena.
Lent.az reports with reference to foreign media that this was stated by the Governor of West Bengal, Ananda Bose. Bose also noted that a relevant investigation is currently underway into the incident.
In addition, the Chief Minister of West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee, apologized to Messi and the disgruntled fans:
"The unprofessional management I witnessed today at Salt Lake Stadium deeply disturbed and shocked me. I was heading to the stadium to participate in the event where thousands of sports fans and supporters gathered to see their favorite footballer Lionel Messi for at least a moment. I sincerely apologize to Lionel Messi, as well as to all sports fans and his supporters, for this unpleasant incident."
It was reported earlier that fans committed an act of vandalism because they could not see Messi properly, who left the field quickly, despite paying to attend the event.
