Former Manchester United and England defender Rio Ferdinand has praised Barcelona forward Lamin Yamal on social media.
Idman.Biz reports that Ferdinand highlighted Yamal's qualities as a player and as a person.
"Yamal has helped me fall in love with football again. Maradona, Riquelme, Veron—that's why I love football: they were people who challenged their opponents and acted crazy, took risks! Lamin Yamal is also in this group; he tries to put on a show. If we are talking about the best players in the world right now, Yamal will be mentioned in that conversation.
You know what else I like about him? He is not just a football player. He uses his voice to draw attention to the problem of violence against Muslims in stadiums. He is a young boy who expresses his opinion. We are not talking about an experienced player with 10 years of experience at the elite level, but an 18-year-old who dares to say, 'I will not tolerate this, this is racism, people must understand this,'" Ferdinand said.
