Former Azerbaijani national football team and "Qarabag" player Richard Almeida gave an extensive interview to the Brazilian press. The 36-year-old midfielder, who currently plays for "XV de Piracicaba" in his homeland, revealed interesting facts about his career in our country.
Idman.Biz reports with reference to the Brazilian media that Almeida made a special note of the 2017/18 season, when "Qarabag" made history. He described competing in a group with giants such as "Chelsea", "Roma" and "Atletico" as the realization of his childhood dream:
"When I was a child, I used to tell my father that I wanted to play in the Champions League. Thank God, I achieved this with "Qarabag". Qualifying for the group stage after eight years of fighting in the play-off stage was the result of my work. Playing in stadiums like "Stamford Bridge" and "Olimpico" is a wonderful feeling."
The Brazilian player stated that he always felt the trust of head coach Gurban Gurbanov during his nearly 14 years in Azerbaijan:
"I have been a leader in the club both on and off the field. Even when I didn't play, I supported my teammates in the locker room."
