"Like all teams, we treated our opponent "Shirvan" in the final with respect. The victory was not easy at all. We thank "Shirvan" for their worthy resistance." These words were spoken to Sport24.az by Sarkhan Agayev, a football player of "Khankendi", the winner of the AFFA Region League 2024/2025 season.
Agayev, who was selected as the best football player of the season in the Region League, shared his joy:
"I am proud to be a champion with "Khankendi". I am glad that I also have a share in this championship. Also, there is no limit to my joy because I am the best football player. As a team, we have always set a championship goal. Hopefully, if I continue with the club, I will try to do my best. We will fight for high places in the Second League. We know it will be difficult, but we are not afraid of anything."
It should be noted that the "Shirvan" and "Khankendi" teams met in the final match held at the Gabala city stadium. The "Khankendi" team, which defeated its opponent with a score of 3:0, became the champion and gained the right to participate in the II League. The team will represent Azerbaijan in the UEFA Region Cup next season. "Shirvan" will play a play-off match for a place in the II League.
