Former La Liga referee Javier Estrada Fernandez has made a shocking confession regarding Cristiano Ronaldo.
Lent.az reports with reference to foreign media that, according to him, after showing a red card to former Real Madrid striker Ronaldo, he was punished by not receiving appointments to games involving Real for two years.
Presumably, we are talking about the Real - Almeria (4:2) match held in the 13th round of the 2009/2010 season. In that game, Fernandes sent Ronaldo off the field in the 88th minute.
"After sending Ronaldo off in 2009, I practically did not referee Real games for two years. After returning home from that game, the head of the Referees Committee, Sanchez Arminio, called me. He said that he did not like what had happened, that this episode would be on the headlines of all national sports newspapers, and hinted that it would not go unpunished.
There is a dark side to football that people either don't know or don't want to know about. There are also those who use that side for their own interests," said Fernandes.
