The Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) has removed referee Istvan Kovacs from the remainder of the Champions League due to the match between "Barcelona" and "Atletico" (0-2). The Romanian referee made several serious mistakes during the game.
According to Lent.az, citing foreign media, Kovacs will still officiate at the 2026 World Cup. His name has been included in the FIFA list.
Previously, "Barcelona" filed an official complaint with UEFA regarding refereeing and VAR.
The return match between "Barcelona" and "Atletico" will be held on April 14 in Madrid.
