Austrian FIFA referee Sebastian Gishamer will referee a match of an Azerbaijani team for the third time.
According to "Report", the referee appointed for the Ukraine-Azerbaijan match in the qualifying round of the 2026 World Cup has previously worked in the game of "Qarabag" club and U-21 national team.
The justice representative, who celebrates his 37th birthday today, refereed the friendly match between the U-21 national teams of Azerbaijan and Czech Republic in 2017. That match ended with a 5:0 victory for the Czechs.
Gishamer then witnessed "Qarabag"'s away victory in 2023. At that time, the champion of Azerbaijan beat the Swedish club "Hakken" with a minimal score of 1:0 in the group stage of the Europa League.
It should be noted that the Ukraine-Azerbaijan match will start today at 22:45 Baku time in Krakow, Poland.
