Serhiy Rebrov, the head coach of the Ukrainian national team, explained the poor performance of his country's clubs in European competitions by the war.
İdman.biz reports that this year Ukrainian clubs did not qualify for the league stage of the UEFA Champions League.
"We would like all the top teams to play in the Champions League. But unfortunately, we are currently at war. Teams cannot train well. Even the performance of any of them in European Cups is valuable for our football," - Rebrov said at a press conference before the match with Azerbaijan.
The 2026 World Cup qualifying match between Azerbaijan and Ukraine will be held on September 9.
