The real reason for the absence of Renat Dadashov, the forward of the Azerbaijan national team, in the match against Ukraine (1:2) in the qualifying round of the 2026 World Cup has become known.
According to the information provided by Murad Akhundov, head of the press service of the Association of Azerbaijan Football Federations (AFFA), to Idman.biz, Rufat Dadashov did not participate in the match due to health problems.
"He felt bad before the game. Due to health problems, he could not fully recover before the match," said the head of the AFFA press service.
It should be noted that earlier, some media outlets reported that there was allegedly a conflict between the new head coach of the Azerbaijani national team, Aykhan Abbasov, and Renat Dadashov. It was reported that the forward reacted emotionally to the decision not to be released in the second half of the match against France (0:3).
AFFA emphasized that this information is not true.
It should be noted that the Azerbaijan national team will play its last two matches of the 2026 World Cup qualifying round in Baku. Our team will face Iceland on November 13 and France on November 16. Our national team has one point after four rounds and is in last place in Group D.
