For several days now, especially on social networks, there have been claims that the Baku Olympic Stadium (BOS) is in a deplorable state and that it is impossible to hold football matches there.
Idman.Biz contacted the head of the stadium's press service, Farid Asadzadeh, regarding this issue.
Farid Asadzadeh admitted that it is indeed not possible to hold football matches at the Baku Olympic Stadium at the moment.
"But this is not due to its deplorable state, as written on social networks, but because we did not plan to hold matches here at all this football season. The thing is that in May next year, our stadium will host a high-level state event - WUF13 (World Urban Forum) - and preparations are underway at the stadium for this event. Therefore, it would be pointless to get the field ready - as you know, our grass cover is not artificial - because in a few months the cover will either fail completely or at least be seriously damaged. That is why holding football matches was not planned for the current season. It is enough that "Qarabağ" qualifies for the main stage of the Champions League, and next season - we are always ready to host this club's games, as well as all significant international football matches, in our arena," said the head of the BOS press service.
