"Real Madrid" has released a statement regarding the condition of forward Kylian Mbappe.
"Following examinations carried out on our player Kylian Mbappe by the Real Madrid Medical Services and French medical specialists, he has been diagnosed with a sprain of the ligaments in his left knee, with a confirmation that conservative treatment is appropriate. His progress will continue to be monitored closely," the club said in a statement published on its official website.
According to Idman.Biz, it was previously reported that Mbappe was unhappy with the club's doctors due to problems with the treatment of his sprained knee.
Frustrated with the situation, the forward travelled to Paris last week with the club's permission to consult with local specialists, forcing him to miss the Champions League play-off second leg against Benfica. The current treatment plan aims to avoid surgery, which could sideline him for a long time.
"Real Madrid" did not announce a timeframe for the player's return but noted that there was positive progress in his recovery. Theoretically, he could recover in time for the Champions League Round of 16 clash against Manchester City, although his participation in the first leg against the "Citizens" on March 11 is still in doubt. This season, Mbappe has scored 38 goals and provided six assists in 33 games for "Real Madrid" in all competitions.
